Traffic Light Eating Coloring Page
This is coloring page for kids that introduce the concept of traffic light eating, a simple way to help kids understand that some foods you should "stop and think" while others are always "good to go." A great tool to talk about the basics of healthy eating, and a wonderful tool for the classroom or home school!
Traffic Light Eating Teaching Tips
This is a basic concept I teach my clients. It is great to use for yourself or your kids. It is how to eat simply- without dieting or number crunching or worrying. It is also simple enough to introduce to your kids to help them become empowered to make their own healthy choices!
You categorize and think about food as red light, yellow light, or green light. You can even go through your pantry and put colored stickers on foods to help you get started :)
Red = Stop & Think, meaning treats you should only eat once in a while
Yellow = Slow Down, and includes most every day foods that can be eaten daily, but still in moderation
Green = Go, which is fruits and vegetables (and for some families nuts and salmon), which you can eat as much as you want!
Traffic Light Eating is a basic concept I use in my Pantry Makeover and also one that many Coaching Clients find effective for themselves as well as their children.
As my coaching focuses on the health of the family, part of what I cover is teaching YOU nutrition basics, so that you can in turn teach your KIDS.
When you gain an understanding of nutrition basics and how to eat a balanced diet-- without worry, stress, or calorie-counting, then you can talk to your kids about healthy choices in a way that will help them make healthy choices for life!
